Did you know that everything in the park is protected?

While it may seem like taking a single piece of fruit, flower, shell, or seed wouldn't make a difference, our park welcomes thousands of visitors each year. If every visitor took "just one," the impact would quickly add up.

Those fruits and seeds provide food for insects, birds, turtles, and other wildlife. They also help plants reproduce naturally, ensuring future generations can enjoy the same beautiful landscapes we see today.

Our mission is to preserve and protect the natural and cultural resources entrusted to us. By leaving nature where you find it, you're helping maintain healthy ecosystems and safeguarding these resources for future visitors.

๐Ÿ“ธ Take only pictures.
๐Ÿ‘ฃ Leave only memories.
๐ŸŒฟ Leave nature for nature.

Thank you for being a steward of our park and helping us protect the plants, animals, and history that make this place so special.

๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’š Help Us Protect Our Trees! ๐Ÿ’š

Our trees are living pieces of our parksโ€™ history and beauty.
While carving names or symbols into bark may seem harmless, it can actually injure a tree by damaging its protective layer.
This makes them more vulnerable to insects, disease, and decay. These markings can last for decades and affect the health and appearance of the tree long after they are made.

Let's practice good stewardship by leaving natural spaces healthy and beautiful for future visitors, wildlife, and generations to come. Instead of leaving a mark on a tree, consider leaving memories through photographs, journaling, artwork, or simply sharing time together in nature.

If you have some photos or artwork in nature you would like to share, tag us. We would love to see the positive ways you experience and make memories in the park.

Thank you for helping us protect and preserve the natural beauty of our parks!

๐Ÿž๐ŸŒฟ Eastern Lubber Grasshopper ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿž

๐ŸŒŸ Meet the vibrant Eastern Lubber Grasshopper, a true beauty of the insect world! With its striking colors and impressive size, this fascinating creature is more than just a pretty face.

๐Ÿ“ธ Fun Facts:

Scientific Name : Romalea microptera

Habitat : Commonly found in open fields and gardens across the southeastern U.S.

Colors : Bright yellow and black patterns help it stand outโ€”perfect for identifying in the wild!

๐ŸŒฑ Did You Know? Eastern Lubber Grasshoppers are herbivorous and can consume large amounts of vegetation, making them important for ecosystems!
While these little guys consume so much especially during a drought like we are experiencing ,they usually only prefer soft leaves or juveniles. We are hoping once our rain season kicks in our vegetation will be able to revive itself.

๐ŸŒ Let's celebrate the beauty of biodiversity! Have you spotted an Eastern Lubber Grasshopper in your area? Share your photos in the comments!

Friends of Koreshan received a grant from the Florida State Parks Foundation to purchase a new, all-terrain powered wheelchair. In partnership with Quantum Rehab, they are providing a device that will expand access through the parkโ€™s settlement and historic buildings, as well as the surrounding trails and rugged terrain that might not otherwise be navigable for all visitors.
