SookjaeArt Pottery SookjaeArt Pottery Welcome to SookjaeArt. Marriage brought me to the U.S. Currently I work at a co-op pottery studio in Eugene, Oregon. I'm a member of Local Clay.

I was born in Kyonggi Province in the heart of the traditional pottery region in South Korea, and grew up surrounded by the traditional forms and shapes of Korean pottery. and later to lengthy expatriate stays in Japan and Hong Kong where I studied traditional Japanese flower arrangement and tai chi. After moving to Eugene with my husband and two children in 1995, I took ceramics classes at Lane C

ommunity College, and fell in love with clay. In ceramics, I focus on a variety of specialized Ikebana ring vases for flower arrangements, orchid pots and functional pots for everyday use. I have had my pottery in local galleries and a museum gift shop.

Its fun and easy to make an elegant flower arrangement with just a couple of flowers and branches in this unique vase. To make this kind of vase, I first throw a doughnut shape of clay on a potters wheel. Then I open up the middle of the doughnut and pull up the inside and outside wall and close it

I threw these mugs on a potters wheel. They were fired to cone 10 (over 2300 degrees F.) in a gas kiln. They will be a very nice wedding gift. Or wedding anniversary gift. The tall one is about 3 in diameter at the top (4-3/4 with handle), 3-7/8 high and holds about 10oz (about 1-1/4 cups). The
