May 31st is World Parrot Day!

While there are many different types of parrots in the world, they all share similar traits like curved beaks and being zygodactyls, meaning they have four toes on each foot — two point forward and two point backward. Many types of parrots are also kept as pets. Parrots are very intelligent birds and some can even mimic non-bird sounds, including human speech. Parrots come in many different sizes from the buff-faced pygmy parrot weighing only 0.4 ounces to the kakapo at 8.8 pounds!
