George Pacheco Art

George Pacheco Art George Pacheco Art features original artwork by Fall River, Massachusetts resident and Azorean born artist George Pacheco. He retired in 2014.

George Pacheco was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, in 1949. In the Azores, he completed primary education. After a five-year interregnum, he returned to school, graduating as a Civil Construction Designer from Centro de Ensino Técnico in Mem Martins, Portugal. George served the Portuguese Army in Angola and was discharged in 1973, when he immigrated to Fall River, Massachusetts. In the United States,

George balanced hard work in the mills with his university studies. Six years after arriving in the U.S., he earned a degree in electromechanical engineering from Bristol Community College and the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. From 1979 to 1986, he worked as an electromechanical engineer at the New Port Naval Base. In 1986, he joined Lightolier in Fall River, which later became PHILIPS of North America, as a Design Engineer. George's artistic spirit is a vibrant force in his life. His collection of hundreds of manual and digital paintings, sketches, and drawings is a testament to his passion. His work, often inspired by the landscapes of Fall River and the Azores, is a beautiful fusion of the two worlds that have shaped him. He has also lent his artistic talents to designing and illustrating book covers and theatre posters. His work has been exhibited publicly in Massachusetts, Roth Island, and the Azores, sharing his creative energy with the world. George's literary contributions reflect his intellectual depth. He has published two novels in Portuguese, each delving into complex societal issues. His first novel, "Conflicts of the Last Generation," explores the societal differences before and after the April 25 revolution in Portugal. His second novel, “White Boots, The Story of an Immigrant," is a poignant portrayal of an Azorean immigrant family, their struggles with greed and ignorance, and their longing for their homeland. George has also written and directed 11 original plays (mostly comedies) that have attracted thousands of people to their productions throughout Southeastern Massachusetts. He is a theatre director and a member of several Portuguese cultural societies. George currently resides in Fall River with his wife, Natalie. In addition to a love of the arts, George is an avid gardener and enjoys spending time with his two grandchildren.
