You know what helps with healthy habits? Awareness. Do you know how much you are consuming on a daily basis. The first step is awareness. Track your food (no judgement) for a week and evaluate your habits. Do you know how much energy is really in your lunch? Cold, hard facts make the biggest impact. Below are two links to free online apps that are easy to use. They will help you be aware of your eating habits so you can change those habits for better health. No dieting. Just awareness.
If you track your food (record it) with no judgement, you will gain knowledge about food and have more power over the unconscious snacking, eating, and second helpings. That's exactly what happened to us in 2017. I'm not sure how we were lucky enough to land on MyFitnessPal, but we did, and a combined 110 pounds lost later, we are in the best shape of our lives. It started with this one step. Tracking and accountability.
Many average Americans are struggling with their health. One of the biggest reason is a thing I'm stealing from a very well-known fitness professional (Sal Destefenio of Mind Pump) and it's called UNCONSCIOUS INCOMPETENCE. YOUDONTKNOWYOUDONTKNOW.
Tracking food helps you be conscious of your choices to move to CONSCIOUS INCOMPETENCE (YOUKNOWBUTARENTCHANGING)
to CONSCIOUS COMPETENCE (YOUKNOWANDARE CHANGING).
The funny thing is that this is what happens when you learn any new skill. Think of healthy eating as a skill. Download the app. Be diligent in your tracking, with no judgement, and look at habits that may be attributing to weight gain, loss, pain, inflammation. Do you consume more calories at night? Are you eating out too much with friends? Are you drinking too much on the weekends (empty calories)? Are you eating too many handfuls of nuts in the break room at work? (THESE ALL ADD UP). If you aren't conscious of them, they snowball into an avalanche.
SO GET TRACKING. You are important. Your health is important. Start here-gain knowledge for a better you.
