Museum Updates: We are hosting ValleyCon again this year!

We will have 1/2 PRICED admission Wednesday, Oct 21 & Thursday, Oct 22 as we get the Main Hangar set up.

ValleyCon begins Friday, Oct 23 and goes till Sunday, Oct 25, you will need a ticket to enter each day!

On September 27th, our collection’s manager Maxwell was blessed to sit down and interview some very special individuals for the Fargo Air Museum’s archives. For more than 4 hours, Maxwell chatted with retired U.S Air Force Colonel Robert “Bob” Haberkorn & his wife, Pat, and daughter, Beth.

At the beginning of Bob’s Air Force career, he was a young F-86 Sabre pilot with the 563rd Fighter-Bomber Squadron at Etain-Rouvres Air Base, France. He served alongside great company, including a young North Dakotan pilot named Darrol Schroeder. Darrol would go on to have a long and distinguished career with the 119th Wing North Dakota Air National Guard and helped to create the Fargo AirSho & the Fargo Air Museum. The F-86 Sabre that the Museum is restoring will be finished in the markings of Darrol’s F-86F, tail number 53-1121

In addition to his family’s recollections, the Haberkorn family also loaned the museum several photos and slides for scanning. Most of these photos have never been seen before by the public and will be included in Bob’s interview video when it is uploaded to YouTube later this year.

We cannot thank the Haberkorn family enough for inviting Maxwell into their home to talk history, pilots, and F-86 Sabres. Take a look at the included photos and their captions for a small glimpse into Bob’s interview!

Sign up for our October Youth Aviation Camp! In this two-part camp, campers (6-18) will learn about all the different aspects of building aircraft with composite materials. Some aircraft, like the Cirrus SR20, SR22, and SF50 are made entirely of composite materials! ✈

Camps are Saturdays, October 10 & 17 from 9AM-12PM.

Also dive deeper into aviation at our STEAM Camp, October 24 from 9AM-12PM.

This week, Max is back with highlighting some recent donations to the Fargo Air Museum! These four German items were taken by an area veteran who was fighting in Normandy, France, following Operation Overlord on June 6th, 1944.
