What's going on at the Octagon House now?
After 168 years the 3 large granite steps to the front door have migrated down and away from the house. They are going to be reset into their original position. The project is being partially funded by a 1772 grant from Maine Preservation.
Tree Line Landscaping is doing the restoration of the steps and a new railing made by Robin''s Welding will be installed.
Come by and check out the progress, from a safe distance!

Luce Studio - Carol Reed

With the upcoming ski races at Titcomb Ski Area I thought this person would be appropriate for the next Luce Studio photo.

Carol Reed is a Farmington native, an avid skier and a member of the Farmington Ski Club. The 2 studio photos were taken in 1954.

In 1955 She was second in the State Junior Girls Ski Championship and in 1956, she was the first Women's Downhill and Slalom Champion.

The daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James W. Reed, she graduated from Wellesley College in 1960. In 1962, she married Charles Hosford of Amherst, MA. After the weeding, the couple moved to New Haven, CT.

Luce Studio Files: Help Identify the Unknown Marine
The photo below is from an envelope that only provided the name: "Grimaldi".

Usually, the file envelopes provided a full name, which was of the subject in the photo, but the name was sometimes of the person who ordered the photo. Also, the date the photo was taken is provided.

The subject is wearing a Marine uniform, and he is private first class. The medals he is wearing are for being a sharpshooter and for the weapons he is proficient using. The time range is probably WW2, 1942 through 1946.

If you think you recognize him, let us know.
