University of Arkansas Printmaking
The printmaking area at the University of Arkansas encourages students to investigate and challenge a diverse range of contemporary print media through experimentation, cross-disciplinary practices, conceptual issues, and critical thinking. Utilizing the history of print-based media, contemporary art historical and theoretical issues, and a thriving visiting artist program, students are encouraged to explore a range of topics that enable them to understand their own work and how it is situated within print media. Students are able to analyze the role of the printed mark and multiple in contemporary visual culture and contribute to the ever-expanding definition of the medium through practice and theory.
Housed at 1580 W Mitchell Street in Fayetteville, the Printmaking area encompasses over 5000 square feet of communal studio space where students can engage in a wide range of traditional, contemporary, and evolving print media practices.
The printmaking area offers undergraduate (B.A., B.F.A.), post-baccalaureate, and graduate (M.F.A.) coursework in intaglio, relief, monotype, lithography, screenprinting, book arts, digital applications, alternative processes, professional development, and special topics.
