Join us for an engaging discussion on General Jorge Biassou, a bold and fierce Haitian General who led an army of free and enslaved Haitians during the 18th century Haitian Revolution.

Moving to Spanish St. Augustine in 1796, he was placed in charge of the Black Militias protecting the city from the British in West Florida and Americans in Georgia. As he boldly rode his horse about the territory with his Black forces, his “Patton-like” persona struck fear in the hearts of many slaveholders. To explore Biassou’s legacy and the Haitian Revolution, join Mike Kegler, a West Point graduate, retired Army officer, and Florida Grand Lodge Historian—for this deep dive into a complex chapter of Florida history.

Suggested donation of $5 for non-members and free for members.
Seating is first come, first serve and wheelchair accessible.
For more information, call 904.261.7378, x. 102 or email [email protected].
