The Flagstaff Festival of Science starts on September 25th! It's the best 10 days of the year! We'll be hosting two free open houses in conjunction with the festival.

*October 1 1:30-4:30pm The Brady Geology Building is hosting a FREE open house.

Art for Sunday morning.
Gunnar Widforss is renowned for his paintings of the Grand Canyon. He often stayed at Phantom Ranch, hiking 12 to 15 miles each day to reach his chosen viewpoint, returning repeatedly over the ten to twelve days it took to complete a painting.

You can view this work in person as part of the Call of the Colorado Plateau exhibition on view now at the Museum of Northern Arizona, or online 24/7 at musnaz.org.

The monsoon rains have brought the mushrooms (and the mosquitoes!). The Slippery Jacks (Suillus spp.) have appeared on the Museum grounds. This usually means we will start seeing Lobster Mushrooms soon. The Easton Collection Center on the Museum’s research campus houses a fungarium—a collection of preserved fungal specimens like the ones below.
