Every once in a while something unexpected happens…

Three sculptures that we believed had found their forever homes have become available once again.

These pieces are especially meaningful because the molds have been destroyed, making them the final castings of each design.

As artists, we rarely get the chance to offer sold-out work again, so we wanted our collectors to be the first to know.

Taawaki Inn’s new entrance sculpture, named “Greeting the Sun,” arrived today, and it is truly something special.

We had the honor of speaking with the artist’s daughter, Krystal Seyesnem Obrzut, about the meaning behind the piece, the thoughtful details woven into its design, and the lasting impression it will create for guests as they arrive.

More than a sculpture, it’s a beautiful welcome — one rooted in story, spirit, and place.

From the artist:

“The Hopi offer a prayer to the morning sun as gratitude for the day and to be mindful of the blessings that have been bestowed to their family from the Creator of All. Each day offers a chance to “Greet the Sun” and say our prayers. The Hopi belief is that the sun then carries our prayers to our ancestors. She has no face, which symbolizes the egalitarian society of the Hopi people. She represents a people, not an individual. The Hopi thought is: One Mind, One Body, and One Spirit.”

We are so fortunate to be a part of the first annual Salt Lake Art Show! Alongside beautiful artwork from across the country, we are honored to be one of just over a dozen Indigenous artists represented here.

Being surrounded by this level of talent and creativity is truly humbling. The show is absolutely worth traveling to see, and if you live in the area, it is a must-see experience! We hope to see you this weekend. 🤍
