We are excited to be making some much needed improvements to the Florence Harvey House. The Historical Society applied for, and received, a couple of grants to upgrade the HVAC, replace outside electric, as well as scrape and repaint the house. These changes and more are necessary to preserve our history for future generations. Stay tuned as we share more updates.

We recently had the pleasure of working with the The Brandin’ Iron to host an evening event featuring a historical reenactment of Fred Harvey and Alice Steele. Fred Harvey's list of rules for businessmen.....
1. Never buy a cheap thing. If you buy the best, your customer gets the best.
2. The best price is always the fair price.
3. Concentrate your business in as few hands as possible.
4. Loyalty is double barreled - if you want it, you must be loyal.
5. Plow your profits under.
6. Be committed to complete customer satisfaction.
7. Hold constantly to a level of theoretical perfection.
8. Catch employees young: or at least fairly inexperienced in your kind of business. We find we have a better chance with them that way than if we get them already trained by someone else.
9. Always promote from within your own ranks.
10. Gradually and steadily expand.
11. Always please the cranks. The finicky customer is by disposition a talker. Take away any grounds for complaint, deprive him of his grievances, and he goes about the world praising you just as ardently as he would otherwise decry you.
12. Never take yourself too damn seriously.

The weather is perfect, the lawn is ready for you to come and join us for the Harvey House annual Mountain oyster/fish fry today from 4pm-6pm!! Come down and eat then head to the street dance!! Looking forward to seeing you!!

We are getting things ready for the annual Harvey House Fish/Mountain Oysters picnic today!!! The weather is beautiful so come on out. We begin serving at 4pm-6pm!!!

Reminder that the Florence Harvey House will have it’s annual Fish Fry/Mountain oyster picnic on Saturday August 31 from 4pm-6pm. Lots of homemade sides, salads, and desserts, tea, water or lemonade. Suggested donation $8pp. All donations go to support the Harvey House Museum. Come on over for the picnic and then go downtown to enjoy the Saturday night music!!! See you there!
