đź“– Now Available: Flushing City Cemetery Guide Book

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent America 250 Cemetery Tour! We were thrilled to welcome an estimated 250-300 visitors as they explored the history of Flushing through the stories preserved in our historic cemetery.

For those who were unable to attend, or for anyone who would like to continue exploring the cemetery at their own pace, the Flushing City Cemetery Guide Book: A Community History Through Lives Remembered is now available at the Flushing Area Historical Society Museum for a $10 donation.

This 68-page guide highlights many of the individuals, families, veterans, and memorials that tell the story of our community's past. Whether you're interested in local history, genealogy, architecture, or simply discovering the people who helped shape Flushing, this guide offers a unique way to connect with our heritage.

All proceeds support the mission of the Flushing Area Historical Society to preserve and share the history of our community.

Do you recognize this building?

This photograph shows the original St. Robert Catholic Church on Easton Road, long before the church that many Flushing residents know today.

Join the Flushing Area Historical Society tonight at 7:00 PM at the Depot Museum as George Saucier shares the history of St. Robert Catholic Church and its role in the development of our community.

Through stories, memories, and historical photographs, attendees will learn about one of Flushing's longest-standing institutions and the people who helped shape its legacy.

A Heartfelt Thank You to an Amazing Team! ❤️

As we wrap up another successful Flushing Cemetery Tour, we want to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who helped make today’s event such a memorable experience.

This community event was proudly presented through a partnership between the Flushing Area Historical Society and Flushing Parks & Recreation, with tremendous support from the City of Flushing. We are grateful for the city’s continued commitment to preserving and sharing our local history.

A very special thank you goes to the Flushing High School Theatre Department for providing the talented actors who brought the stories of Flushing’s past to life. Their dedication, preparation, and performances helped transform historical figures into living history, creating an engaging and unforgettable experience for our guests.

We would also like to recognize the many volunteers, organizers, tour guides, researchers, cemetery staff, and behind-the-scenes helpers who worked tirelessly to make this event possible. Your time, passion, and commitment are what make community events like this so successful.

Together, we honored the people and stories that helped shape Flushing while creating new memories for those who attended.

Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, volunteered, and joined us for the September 12, 2026 Flushing Cemetery Tour. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Sneak peek!
The proof copy of our new cemetery guide just arrived, and I couldn’t resist sharing a few photos.
The guide will debut at the Flushing Cemetery Walk on September 12, and the first 250 visitors will receive a free copy thanks to the generous support of Caterer Family Funeral Home.
I think people are going to be surprised by just how many fascinating stories are hidden in Flushing City Cemetery.
Hope you’ll join us and help celebrate local history during America 250!
