Lacey Historical Society The Lacey Historical Society preserves artifacts, landmarks and lore of the local region, so that current and future generations can know of its past.

Executive board meeting schedule:
September 12, October 3, November 7 and December 5. Old Schoolhouse is open Mid June-Labor Day on Wednesdays (1-3 pm) and Saturdays (10 am-noon).

Contest rules:
Historical Diorama - open for k-5th graders the project should depict a scene representing the American
Revolution War important New Jersey contributions like crossing the Delaware River or the Battle of
Trenton. Dioramas should be 12x18x12,the sides may be removed and family friendly. All sides should
be covered. One entry per person. No electricity can be used. Dioramas should be dropped off at the
Old schoolhouse museum 126 South Main Street behind Mrs. Walker& #39;s Ice Cream Shop on Saturday,
May 9 or May 16 between 10-12, or by special appointment by emailing [email protected].
1st place winners will receive $50.00, 2nd place $35.00 and 3rd place $25.00 for two categories, k-3 and
grades 3-5. Each entry should include the child's name, age and parents & contact information. Pictures
will remain on display at the museum until September 12, when they may be picked up between 10-12 or
by making a special appointment. Judging will consider the relevance to the topic, creativity, originality,
grammar and how the entry was executed. No political statement will be accepted, and the Historical

Have you ever wondered how much that keepsake, family heirloom, or antique gathering dust is worth? Now you can find out when the Lacey Township Historical Society hosts Marilyn Melega and company from Legacies of Old & New on Saturday, April 11th, from 10:00 th am to 2:00pm. Admission is only $6.00 at the door and will include a tour of the museum and the appraisal of one item. Additional items may be appraised for $6.00 each with a limit of three pieces. The event will take place at 126 South Main Street in Forked River, (Old Schoolhouse Museum, Route 9, behind Mrs. Walker's Ice Cream Shop). Ocean County History Day
Location: Ocean County Historical Society
The fifth annual Ocean County History Day is scheduled for Saturday, September 13 from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM, rain or shine. The event is sponsored by the Ocean County Historical Society, the Ocean County Cultural & Heritage Commission, and the Captain Joshua Huddy Chapter DAR. Admission is free!

Join us as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States. Meet historical reenactors, take a tour of the Elizabeth Sculthorp Force House and Museum, celebrate with us the 75th anniversary of the Ocean County Historical Society, and visit the various displays set up by Ocean County historical organizations and museums. Meet George and Martha Washington’s escaped slave Ona Judge for a presentation at 11:30 followed by Betsy Ross at 1:00. Meet author Robert DeSando, who will be selling and autographing his newest book, “A Titanic Loss For New Jersey”. This acclaimed book tells the story of the impact and consequences the 1912 Titanic disaster had on New Jersey from an economic and personal perspective.
