For the entire month of September, our gallery is hosting our annual giving month initiative. We are so incredibly proud of our local artists, who have generously donated beautiful, original art pieces for this special event.

When you purchase any piece from our dedicated Art With A Heart wall, 100% of the profits will go directly to support two amazing organizations doing vital work in our community: Animal Friends Alliance and the Food Bank for Larimer County .

Katie Smith has very unique, beautiful pottery. Katie only began her ceramic life in 2020, after spending time learning to write and illustrate art as a new mom. She began by reading children’s books to her daughter.

One day she had an idea for a book and decided to sketch out the pages. She was surprised to realize that she could draw! She spent years creating illustrations, pencil drawings, and watercolors. She enrolled in a Children’s Book Illustration program through UC San Diego’s Extended Studies Program and illustrated a full-length picture book in 2020 In that same year, she decided to buy a kiln and learn ceramics.

Although she still misses 2D art, her dive into ceramics became all consuming! Her work utilizes hand building techniques, sculpted elements, and rich color, always seeking to tell a story.

She focuses on work that expresses the beauty of Colorado and the Mountain West including its landscape, wildlife, and lifestyle. Katie works out of her studio in her mountain cabin in Livermore, Colorado.

Richard Salley has beautiful jewelry. Richard began working with metal in 1969 as an assistant to Carmel, California metal sculptor Malcom Moran. Richard’s metal working experience turned to 'found object jewelry' after taking a workshop with Keith LoBue in 2002.

Richard retired from teaching in public schools in 2009 to devote more time to his art and teaching workshops around the country.

His work has been featured in Belle Armoire Jewelry, Art Jewelry, and Jewelry Artist magazines. His art also is included in Susan Lenart-Kazmer’s Making Connections, Steel Wire Jewelry by Brenda Schweder, Steampunk Style Jewelry by Jean Campbell and Metal Style by Karen Dougherty.

Richard now lives in Loveland, Colorado.

I donate about half a dozen bracelets a year to different silent auctions for charities. This month's donation is toward Art with a Heart by the Blue Moose Art Gallery, supporting Animal Friends Alliance in Fort Collins, Colorado. I love giving back to my community!
