We're on the hunt for potato bags. Here are some examples of what we have in our current collection. Each example has a connection to Fort Kent and the St John Valley, and we are on the hunt for more. Do you have any paper or burlap bags that you think may be a great addition to our Potato Farm Exhibit? What about a ticket box and Potato barrel tickets? Let us know what's hiding in the garage, barn or basement.

The Society was very pleased with the responses and comments we received on our recent post from the Velma T Daigle Collection on St. Louis School, 1962-1963. Over 12K people enjoyed the historic photos. One of our followers related memories of Police Chief Camille Caron who was in a few photos. We were reminded of another interesting gem from the Daigle Collection. We found the original newspaper clippings in the Society’s extensive scrapbook albums. Unfortunately, we failed to record the date on the negative envelope, and since it has been cold, we will find out the exact year it was taken this spring. We estimate this photo was taken in 1955 or 1956. Please feel free to share, comment and enjoy this photo. Are you interested in becoming a member of the Fort Kent Historical Society, please contact us with your email address today! This is the caption from the photo in the scrapbook. Returned for prosecution: Glenn Anderson of Amigo, W. VA., and Oneil Lizotte of Fort Kent, center, are shown above as they were being taken from Fort Kent to face prosecution on grand larceny counts in New York State. With the men are, left to right, Camille Caron, Fort Kent Police Chief, Roland Dumond, State Police, Fort Kent district, and Joseph A. Romanski, county attorney, Suffolk County, New York. The men were flown from Presque Isle to New York.
