The Museum of Discovery and Science mission is: connecting people to inspiring science. MODS began its history as a project of the Junior League of Fort Lauderdale, opening as the Discovery Center, a hands-on museum of art, science and history, in 1977 in the historic New River Inn. Over the course of the next few years, several other historic buildings became part of the Museum’s complex. More th

an 450,000 people visit the Museum of Discovery and Science annually. Over 8 million visitors have experienced the Museum since opening in 1992. The Museum currently serves more than 90,000 students annually who visit on school sponsored field trips.

The Science of Guinness World Records is now open at MODS and it’s a whole new way to experience the science behind world records. 🎊

Move through the exhibit and take on interactive challenges that test your speed, focus and endurance, all inspired by real world records. Each station gives you a chance to see how you stack up and where you land on the leaderboard. 🔢

Stay tuned for Beat the Best Weekends kicking off this June and July, with themed challenges and even more ways to test your skills.

We celebrated with a ribbon cutting to mark the debut of this all-new hands-on exhibit, where guests can step into the action and experience what it really takes to break a world record.

Now open, the exhibit invites you to test your reaction time, endurance and focus as you take on real record-breaking challenges and climb the leaderboard. 🏆

Got a little one heading to kindergarten soon? This is the perfect way to get ready. 📚🚌

Join us for A Day in K: I’m Going to Kindergarten, a FREE family experience at MODS designed to build the skills kids need for a confident start to school.

Children will practice key kindergarten skills through hands-on STEM activities, crafts, games, reading adventures, cafeteria line practice, shoe-tying stations, a real Broward County Public Schools bus and more.

Families can also connect with community partners, meet educators and explore helpful school-readiness resources throughout the Museum.

Last week, the Museum of Discovery & Science was proud to join community partners for the grand opening & ribbon rutting of the Outdoor Amphitheater & Coastal Corridor Exhibit at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. 🌲🐛🐞

Created in partnership with the Community Foundation of Broward, Friends of Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, and other incredible collaborators, the exhibit helps visitors explore the importance of Florida’s coastal habitats, wildlife corridors and the green spaces that connect our communities.

We’re grateful to have played a role in bringing this experience to life and can’t wait to see future visitors, students and families connect with nature in such a meaningful and immersive way. 🔎
