Join Girls’ Club Saturday, December 6, 10am-Noon for an informal brunch date to celebrate Art Basel Miami Week and the exhibit Quiet Strange with exhibition curator Tayina Deravile. Light brunch snacks served.

Anchored in figuration, this exhibition brings together a group of artists from the collection of Francie Bishop Good and David Horvitz whose work leans into the uncertain. Join us for the Opening Reception of “Quiet Strange” and Listening Party with Connect Record Shop and DJ Nat Smallish Friday, October 17, 6-8pm!

Quiet Strange embraces the unsettling by bringing the uncanny to the forefront. Anchored in figuration, this exhibition explores themes of otherworldly encounters, distortion, and masking that conjure peculiar feelings. Extraterrestrial beings, bodies reassembled, and images that itch the subconscious blur the lines between the real and surreal. In a time where reality feels increasingly unstable and collective unease is pervasive, Quiet Strange invites viewers to use the strange as a place to confront absurdity.

Featuring Hernan Bas, Ana Albertina Delgado, Scott Daniel Ellison, Aliene de Sousa Howell, Marjolijn de Wit, Neil Farber, Natalie Frank, Martha Friedman, Leslie Gabaldon, Carol Jazzar, Klara Kristalova, Helen Levitt, Lee Materazzi, Emilio Martinez, Beatriz Monteavaro, Andrea Modica, Wangechi Mutu, Jennifer No, Jorge Pantoja, Ingrid Schindall, Asser Saint-Val, Sandra Scolnik, Beverly Semmes, Lauren Shapiro, Laurie Simmons, Nicola Tyson, and Gillian Wearing.

Talking the myriad of ways to be sensory inclusive and thoughtful with artist Jen Clay and Annie Hoffman, Board-Certified and Registered Art Therapist and Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 15 years’ experience in the arts and health fields.

Creating a welcoming space for as many art-curious as we can should be the goal, right?

Jen’s current show, Blasted Belonging, at Girls’ Club is on view for an extended week, though August 8, 2025. The exhibit transforms Girls’ Club into an interactive, sensory-inclusive environment where visitors step into a surreal evening landscape.

Inspired by American author H.P. Lovecraft’s 1927 short story The Colour Out of Space, the installation will feature multiple components that define Clay’s practice such as textile works and figures, text, animation and sound.

With Blasted Belonging, Clay presents a quilted alien forest sewn from hand-dyed, thrifted bed linens. Movable landscape elements and a symbolic ‘well’ allow visitors to shape the scene as if uncovering an unfolding mystery. A projected storm animation and an atmospheric soundscape heighten the eerie yet immersive experience, blurring the line between observer and protagonist.

Open Fridays, 1-5pm or by appointment.
