BG Sherian Cadoria was commissioned in the Women's Army Corps in 1961, integrating into the Military Police in 1974 and serving 29 years until her retirement in 1990. Then a Captain, Cadoria served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969, first as the Administrative Officer in the Provost Marshal's Office at Tan Son Nhut and then as the Protocol Officer for the Qui Nhon Support Command. This photograph shows her at left while serving in Vietnam with 1SG Marion Crawford.

We were honored to support the Fort Lee Commissary exhibit on the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. The exhibit will be available from 16 - 22 February as part of the Smucker's 2026 Mission Breakfast Competition.

On Friday, 20 February, Ms. Renata Morgan, author of "Transitioning from a Weekend to a Warzone" and actress in The Six Triple Eight will be signing her books at the commissary from 10:00am - 2:00pm! Stop by to meet her and enjoy a food demonstration with Smucker's products, popcorn, and a screening of the Six Triple Eight. We can't wait to see everyone who comes out and supports our community in this fun event!

Happy Valentine's Day! Many Army women have found love during their service, including 6888th WAC Pfc. Florence Collins who married Cpl. William Johnson of the 1696th Labor Supervision Company in France, pictured here in 1945. Other members of the 6888th married overseas include Pfc. Ruth Sloan who married Sgt. Emmett Williams of the 273rd Port Battalion and Lt. Vivian Elzie who married Lt. Elysee Taylor of the 761st Tank Battalion.

Has anyone else been watching the Winter Olympics? We're planning to watch SPC Azaria Hill in the two-woman bobsled events coming up next week. Not only is SPC Hill an Olympian herself, but both of her parents and her aunt were as well. She joined the Army in 2024 and serves as a motor transport operator with the Transportation Corps! What events are you watching?

The museum is back open today following a short lapse in appropriations and ready to honor the U.S. Army Nurse Corps (ANC)! On Monday 2 FEB, the ANC celebrated its 125th birthday! This image shows nurses arriving in Greenoch, Scotland in 1944, prepared to offer medical assistance to Soldiers assigned to the European Theater. A local Richmonder, 1LT Julia James, later Green, was one of the 63 nurses who were assigned to this unit.

During the government shutdown, we are taking a pause on social media activity. Please join us again once the government reopens.
The most recent government appropriations expired at 11:59p.m. EST on January 30, 2026. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status, without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be furloughed.
