Out of business

10/07/2020

On behalf of Judith Suit and Larry Burchard Wood Shanty, owners of the Art Connection:
To all our friends, followers, and loyal customers, we thank you for your support these past few years.

Going into our 4th year, with much sadness, we regret to say the Art Connection has permanently closed.
Due to circumstances beyond our control and health issues unrelated to Covid, we made the very difficult decision to close our doors.

There is some good news though......Some of our resident artists have relocated to other local galleries downtown.

Until we meet again, be kind to one another, and please stay safe.

My name is Sophia Tranoris Beadsandhearts & this is my story. Three years ago as I was about to retire, I discovered Fort Pierce in my search of small towns to live in & it was love at first sight.
And then when I discovered the Art Connection, it was love again, & if you haven't visited us yet, please put it on your to-do list--I promise you will be surprised and impressed and love it too!

As for me, I have a passion for creating unique OOAK (one of a kind) wearable art; fun, lightweight, premium polymer clay jewelry- necklaces, pendants, earrings & also hand sculpted little animals wearing dresses, etc.
I often add inclusions to my work like herbs for an organic look, & even bits of crayon.
I love to add alcohol inks, foils, and paint to my work, & texture with rock salt, hair rollers, or other found objects---you could say I like to make a big mess!
After that, the pieces are cured in a dedicated convection oven for one hour at 275 degrees. Next is hand sanding through several grits, ouch, then buffing to a mellow glow with the Dremel or glazed, depending on the look I want to achieve.

I have a large selection of polymer clay earrings in the shop priced to sell at just $20.00 a pair, an affordable way to perk up your mood and your outfit!
I just added some earrings I created using genuine iridescent emerald green beetle wings from Thailand, also $20.00. They are so pretty, and make soft rustling sounds, and yes, the wings have been sustainably harvested from beetles at the end of life.

My sculptures are in our Bits of Love section on the right as you walk in, and almost everyone has something on display in this area for $20.00 or less.
My second passion is creating whimsical art in my ceramics studio at home; plates from leaves, cat soap dishes, spoon rests, cats & flowers on stakes for the garden.
Message me anytime to learn more about my creations, or to meet me at the Art Connection.

We are open Thursdays & Fridays 10 am to 4 pm; Saturdays 10 am to 3 pm; and the rest of the week by appointment. Thank you for reading this far 😊

"The best part of being an artist is you can do whatever interests you at the time."
These are the words of Dana "Walrus" Lugibihl, Resident Artist at the Art Connection of Fort Pierce. https://www.facebook.com/artconnectionfp
Dana enjoys creating using several mediums.
He sculpts figures using cement and sand over wire armatures, and also uses acrylic stone and Apoxy, filing and sanding after each coat for a smooth finish, very time consuming.
This all adds up to an impressive, durable statement sculpture that would look great in any home or office.

Dana is also known for Gyotaku, a Japanese technique, created by pressing rice paper onto a fish covered with ink or paint. Dana uses fish he or friends have caught. (I would love to see that!) The final result is unique and beautiful, a must see!

We are open Thursdays & Fridays 10 am to 4 pm; Saturdays 10 am to 3 pm; and the rest of the week by appointment. ~ Sophia
