Highlands Mansion and Gardens The Highlands Mansion and Gardens is a 44-acre historic site with a late 18th century Georgian mansion and two-acre formal garden.

Surrounded by massive stone walls, the gardens offer a beautiful example of early 20th, century estate gardening with an unusual blend of horticulture and architecture. The site features nine outbuildings, including a bank barn, springhouse, greenhouse, smokehouse and Gothic Revival gardener's cottage. The Highlands Historical Society began to restore the 2-acre formal garden to its appearance c.1925 - 1935 in October 2001, with a project at the screening wall on the east side of the garden.

The Highlands Historical Society would like to personally recognize and thank Denise Maggetti Nowak as our top sponsor this year. Her generosity has been given in loving memory of her late husband Gregory J. Nowak. We are delighted to have her family and friends return again to turn up the energy on the dance floor!

Today, I had the incredible honor of accepting an award on behalf of the Highlands Historical Society from the due to thoughtful nomination from the

The lovely ladies of the Wissahickon Garden Club are always a delight to have here year after year for their annual meetings, showings and luncheons. And this visit was exceptional thanks to their adoration for The Highlands. The photography and floral entries today were exquisite. I was humbled to be handed this thoughtful recognition from such a knowledgeable and talented group of women.

I happily accepted the award and let everyone know how much Caroline Sinkler, the last owner of the estate, would be thrilled to witness this event as she was an avid gardener and was passionate about her parterre beds. I know that our founder, Katie Moulton, would have been truly touched by the honor as well.

Thank you for this memorable morning. I look forward to sharing the exciting news with our dedicated board of trustees and our Garden and Grounds Committee members who are all committed to the ongoing preservation of our historic garden.
