Artist Spotlight: Harmony Padgett
Working with oil and ink on wood panels, Harmony Padgett creates abstract works defined by a compelling sense of movement and energy. Elegant, sweeping lines guide the viewer across the panel, contrasted by intentional shifts in color and tone. By mixing fluid, organic shapes with sharp geometric patterns, Padgett builds layered abstract compositions that feel entirely fresh, fluid, and spirited.

Gallery artist Marilyn Jolly is currently on view at the Irving Arts Center in Echoes of Wonder, a two-person exhibition with sculptor Larry Graeber. Jolly’s paintings and mixed media works move between structure and improvisation — organized by pattern and color, and guided as much by the process of making as by any original intention.

On view through June 6 at the Irving Arts Center Main Gallery, 3333 North MacArthur Blvd, Irving. Free and open to the public, Tuesday – Saturday, noon to 5PM.

In Kris Cox’s photo-based works, the surface is never just a surface.

Known for his deep exploration of time and memory, Cox builds up layers of beeswax, pigmented wood putty, and asphaltum washes — creating a patina that ages alongside the subjects it holds. The result is a body of work that asks us to look closer and reflect longer: on what we leave behind, on what endures, and what doesn’t.

In Pi**he Dog con Red Lengua, Cruz Ortiz brings the visual tradition of Chicano culture to the portrait with assurance and precision. The figure is direct, the composition deliberate — and the work makes a strong presence on any wall.

Texas-based artist Lee Albert Hill has spent 25 years in his Fort Worth studio asking a deceptively simple question: what does it mean to find your center within the expanse?

You can see his architect’s eye in the precision of each form, and his writer’s heart in the depth of color. Every discipline he’s pursued finds its way into the work.
