Crossroads Studio

Crossroads Studio Community Gallery and Art Studio Alexander. Over the years, the historic building has since closed and fallen into disrepair, but it was never forgotten.

Preserving History…

Built in 1926, the original Lake Como Service Station was known for its operation under local resident and entrepreneur, W.C. The location has served as many storefronts over time for more home grown enterprises, including John’s Country Store and Clara’s Café. Restoring the structure and preserving its history is the first phase in a new chapter for this community landmark. U

pon restoration, it will open its doors again and become The Crossroads Art Gallery & Studio. The opening exhibit will feature a photographic history of the Lake Como community. Creating for the Future...

Phase two will bring the opening of the studio which faces Prevost Street. The Crossroads Art Gallery & Studio will offer a full spectrum of community art classes: painting, pottery, sculpture, and more. Studio time and space will also be available for emerging artists complete with an art show to showcase their work.

The old roof held on for over 90 years but could hold on no more! ... We want to give a huge shout out to Patrick Sanders, Frank, and the whole crew for all their hard work clearing the remnants of the old roof while preserving the historic building. One porch column was cracked at the base and did fall, but it will be rebuilt stronger than ever along with a new roof. Special thanks also go out to James Kennard and Roger Rabb for their precision accuracy in clearing the grounds of the patchwork of old concrete and asphalt. We now have a clean slate at the Crossroads!

"In a city where the motto is “Cowboys and Culture,” many long made the argument that it thinks more about the former and less about the latter, despite Fort Worth having arguably the best museum district in North Texas. That’s changed from the ground up." - Darryl Ratcliff, D Magazine

Check out this exciting article in D Magazine about growth in the Fort Worth arts community, where local artists/gallery owners discuss "their dreams for the city of Fort Worth, about being artists and culture creators of color."

The city to our west has more energy than any artistic movement in the region. And the institutions are beginning to take notice. Here's what Dallas can learn.
