On October 13, 1917, in Fátima, the Virgin appeared for the last time to Lúcia, Francisco, and Jacinta. She began appearing to them on the the 13th of every month beginning in May 1917.

She revealed her name: “I am Our Lady of the Rosary.” She asked that the rosary be recited every day and that we cease offending God, who has already been so greatly offended.

Then, before 70,000 people drenched by the rain, the sun began to dance in the sky. It was the sign promised three months earlier.

Over a century later, the message has not changed: prayer, penance, conversion of sinners.

Our Lady of Fátima, pray for us.

This is the coarse woven tunic of St Francis and his simple sandals though he often went barefoot. While in meditation on Mount Alvernia in the Apennines in September 1224, Francis received the stigmata, which periodically bled during the remaining two years of his life. This miracle has a separate memorial on 17 September.
