A SPECIAL DAY AT THE LEBANON ROAD SCHOOLHOUSE!

What a spectacular day we had celebrating the ribbon cutting and reopening of the Lebanon Road School District No. 2!

We were thrilled to have such a wonderful turnout as we celebrated this special piece of Franklin’s history. Built around 1800 and serving students until 1957 the schoolhouse has witnessed generations of Franklin’s history. Now, thanks to the incredible support of our community, it has a new chapter ahead.

A very special THANK YOU to T-Mobile and the T-Mobile Hometown Grant that made this restoration possible. Their generous support allowed us to restore and preserve this important historic building for our community.

We are also incredibly grateful to Anthony Girasoli, our project lead for his dedication, hard work, and leadership throughout the restoration. His efforts were instrumental in bringing this project to completion.all of the volunteers who helped to make Saturday’s events special.

We would also like to recognize the Franklin Historical Society for protecting and caring for the schoolhouse on behalf of the Town for all these years. Their commitment to preserving this important piece of our history made it possible for us to take this next step.

And a heartfelt thank you to the Sise’s for their many years of diligent care and stewardship of the schoolhouse grounds. A a special recognition to Angela and Greater Norwich Chamber of Commerce for all-of their encouragement and support.

A NEW CHAPTER

The Lebanon Road Schoolhouse is now officially part of the Ashbel Woodward Museum campus and programming

The schoolhouse will be open several times throughout the year for targeted historical events and will also be available for educational programming throughout the year

If you are interested in learning more about the schoolhouse, arranging an educational program, or have questions about upcoming events, please contact the Ashbel Woodward Museum

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate this wonderful milestone with us. Preserving our history truly is a community effort!

We are honored to be recognized alongside the CT D.E.E.P Wildlife Division Office as a key destination in our beautiful town.

Next time you're heading our way, keep an eye out for the sign and take that turn toward local history!
