LibertyTown Arts Workshop is a 13,000 square foot gallery with over 40 local craftspeople and artists. Here our artists create and show right on site in 27+ active studio spaces. We have potters, wood workers, welders, blacksmiths, oil painters, pastel artists, water colorists, and fiber art. As if that wasn't enough, we also offer CLASSES in:

- Pottery ( both Adult and Children's classes...begin

ners welcome!!!)

- Blacksmithing
- Oil Pastels
- Chinese Watercolor

- and much more! In our emporium we also have 20 or more artist's works from around the region: exceptional woodwork, stained glass, soaps, candles, print work, shirts, knitwear and pottery! Coming soon: An outdoor courtyard with a blacksmithy and an area for moonlight concerts!! We love this place and hope you will too! Want some more history?? LibertyTown Arts Workshop was founded in 2002 by famed local potter Dan Finnegan, and changed hands in July 2013. The new husband and wife duo of Dolores and Kenneth Lecky are both artists in their own right (a potter and a photographer). They are working hard to add new classes, revamp the courtyard and paint a huge mural on the back of the building! Fun Fact: The building that houses our 40+ artists was once the plumbing annex of the Fredericksburg Hardware store...and we have the kooky floor tiles and wall sconces to prove it! Meet the Business Owner: D.D. and Kenneth!! and Kenneth are the new owners of LibertyTown Arts Workshop. They purchased the business in 2013 and are working hard to build the class schedule, revamp the courtyard and add a huge mural to the backside of the building facing William Street. The two met while attending UVA in 2002 and bonded over their love of art and science...and dogs ( they have three!). is a potter and a commercial property manager who brings business and art together whenever she can. Kenneth is a photographer and software engineer who is using his computer skills to push us into the 21th century!

We hope everyone has a wonderful of remembrance with family and friends.

The weekend is here! Time to come down town and get your weekly dose of art! We have the amazing “H20” show with all of the amazing interpretations of water! Today we are featuring:

“Still water” by Kareen Canora. This is a collage of four separate photographs that come together to form a completed work. Printed on metal, one can vividly experience the icy landscapes that two of the panels exhibit which are punctuated by two panels of icy textures that are abstract and very interesting to visually explore. This work gives you the experience of seeing the full image and then exploring the details.

“Bubbling to the Surface” and “Rapid Boil” by Kerry McAleer-Keller or both process color screen prints and depict abstractions of bubbles in water. “Bubbling to the Surface” has hot water vibes as the golden color tones and rapid movement makes this color abstraction feel like it’s rapidly moving. “Rapid boil” feels active as well, but somehow calmer based on the use of primarily blue tones. Both works have a great abstract and scientific feel.

Be sure to visit these and all the beautiful works in this months exhibit in person at LibertyTown or 24/7 online on our website!

Happy Friday!!!!! We are at about the half way point of the “H20” exhibit being on display. If you have been meaning to get by and see these amazing work, you should do so soon. Today we are featuring:
“Glacier” by Sally Cooney-Anderson. This eclectic work features fabric that has been manipulated and draped to feel organic and flow similarly to what one might expect ice and water to flow. The shades of blues and purples add visual depth and texture to the piece engaging the viewer.

“Why Are You Being So Selfish?” By Sarah Wood is watercolor and ink work featuring human forms mixed with the flow of water that turns caustic. This piece speaks to the greed of water use, taking so much from a pure source and then it turning poisonous and gobbling away at. We enjoy the illustrative style the work possesses along with the use of colors.

This month, our H2O National Exhibition brings together a range of perspectives on water, its forms, meanings, and impact. We invite you to spend some time with these engaging works and see where they take you. Today we are featuring:

“About to Break 1” and “About to Break 2” by Jill Chesnut. These wonderful ceramic pieces illustrate the waves, water and sand present and the relationship they have when waves are breaking. The bowls undulate in a wave motion while the colors of the glaze capture the essence of the water.

“Blue Run Autumn” by Mike Flynn is a lovely watercolor of a fall day with the stillness of the water reflecting the trees and falling foliage. This piece represents a unique perspective of water with reflections of reds and oranges versus a traditional blue we are typically met with, showing the viewer the ever changing quality of water and its reflectivity.

Happy Tuesday!! We are entering another week of our amazing “H20” exhibit featuring interpretations of water in various mediums. Today we are featuring:

“Appalachian Black Waterfalls” by Diane Gulick. This photograph depicts the awesome Black Waterfalls in WV. The photograph captures the awesome force of the aggressively moving waterfalls, and demonstrates the ability of water to cut and move the earths landscape.

“Made Clean” by William O’Connor. This oil painting depicts a child’s baptism. Painted in soft and neutral colors this quiet world speaks to the gentleness of water, and a spirituality surrounding water.

Happy Saturday!!!! The farmers market is having its first opening of the year! While you are out grab some veggies and swing by and get your art fix!! The H20 show has so many water inspired works to enjoy, and is only up for the month of April. Today we are featuring:

“Cape Florida Lighthouse Circa 1986” by Mary Lou Cramer . This oil painting features a lighthouse painted along the shore on a very beautiful day by the ocean. We love the quiet softness this work has. From the green blue waters to the white blue skies this works feels familiar and comforting.

“Seaside View” by Audrey Wolski is a mixed media work featuring the view that one would be seeing if standing on the pier. We love how the artist captures that weathered gray of the pier wood, the turbulence of the waves and the flight of the birds.

Be sure to visit these and all the beautiful works in this months exhibit in person at LibertyTown or 24/7 online on our website!
