Thomas Annear Art Adventure meets quite contemplation in my plein air paintings the paintings seek to capture both the grandeur and beauty of the American landscape.

Over the past twelve years, I have been completing a series of Plein Air paintings that celebrate the beauty and history of local agricultural communities. Through these works I have sought to capture the unique geography, weather patterns, and natural resources of Western New York. Increasingly conservation and sustainability issues have become central to my work.

2014 is beginning to wrap up an

d I have started looking ahead to 2015’s big Summer Solo show “The National Parks And Beyond” at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute in Jamestown NY. The Show runs from June 23rd- August 15th with an opening reception and artist talk on Friday, June 26th from 7-9pm. The show features over Fifty paintings (completed over the past seven years) that were completed in and around our National Parks as well as several gems from our region and NY state. We are currently working on a full schedule of talks and classes to support the show.

The August exhibit (Aug2-Sept7), Visions of the National Parks and Beyond, is a collective exhibition featuring more than forty works by six acclaimed regional artists: Thomas Annear, Wendy Bale, Angela Caley, James Hoggard, ​Tom Janik, and Thomas Paquette.

Got to have an art lesson with one of my favorite little buds.

Quick lesson about doing a contour line drawing to catch the mountain. He did a great job and has a lot of talent for such a young man. More importantly, it slows the brain, uses his hands and gives him a positive way to express himself.

His homework is to draw the mountain every time he comes to visit grandma and grandpa.

Later today, we have the next lesson, he’s color. We are goning to add color and turn it into a sunset beautiful sunset.

Sunrise hike this morning through the garden of the gods to see balancing rock and the Siamese twins. The storm on the horizon was blocking most of the sunrise, but that’s OK. It had its own beauty and we were glad it moved out early so we could enjoy the rest of the day.
