Promoting a peaceful creative community practiced in gratitude.

The National Hotel Artist Lofts is located in the heart of the Cultural Art District. Historically referred to as the ES Levy building that was built in 1896, this was also the site of the first opera house in Texas called the Tremont Opera house that stood from 1870-1895. The building is now owned by Artspace, which is a nation-wide non-profit organization who's mission is to create, preserve, an

d foster affordable spaces for artists and art organizations. Please contact Creative Director, Becky Major, for more information.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who took a moment to vote for the National Hotel Artist Lofts (NHAL). This recognition belongs to our entire community, past and present residents, neighbors, supporters, and believers in the power of art-centered living.

We are thankful every single day for spaces like this, and for organizations like Artspace that understand housing as more than walls and roofs, it’s about dignity, creativity, and belonging. Many who live here truly feel that if more institutions like this existed, the world would be a kinder, more connected place.

Thank you for seeing us, supporting us, and standing with artists and art communities everywhere!
