Seeing the existing historic mansions on Galveston Island really brings home what a loss it is that so many no longer exist.
I enjoyed being one of the docents at the beautiful Mistrot home during GHFs Galveston HIstorical Homes Tour today. The interior is even more stunning than the exterior. Thank you to Sondra Oxman for inviting me to participate!
If you weren't able to tour the homes this weekend, you haven't missed out yet...the tours will take place again next weekend.

I'm heartbroken to share the news that one of the oldest homes on the island, the George Ball House, was lost in a horrific fire this week. It was a horrific day in this historic neighborhood.
Please send prayers for the homeowners who were injured, and for those whose homes were damaged. You will never find a more wonderful group of people than those that live in this street.

Both men went to the hospital with severe burns and smoke inhalation, according to the Galveston Fire Department.
