Families with loved ones buried at Piedmont Cemetery in Guilford County are demanding answers as overgrown grass and unclear grave markers create emotional and logistical challenges.

169 years ago, Solomon Henry Johnson was born to James Walter Johnson and Rebecca Sword. He and his wife Dianah Sword are my 3rd great grandparents. They owned a decent size tract of land on Island Creek, including land my cousins still live on.

The Elkhorn City Area Heritage Council, Inc. will be at the Elkhorn City Public Library every Saturday in October from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM conducting Appalachian Oral History Workshops.

Due to the passing of the Hills of Home and Stanley Family lifelong friend Elder Frank Newsome. Clinch Mountain Echo will not be performing at the Coal Miners Festival.
