Might any of you have a USS Aries button to spare? CO Len Hering R ADM from Jacksonville, Florida is looking for the small crest button that is found on the name tag. It is about 1/2” round and is in full color to complete his Retirement Board. He served as CO of USS Aries from January 1989 to January 1991.

Greetings, USS Aries fans! We continue to look for a nice retirement place for our dear ship. When and if we find something promising, we will be sure to share it with you.

For now, she is resting comfortably in Gasconade, Missouri at the confluence of the Gasconade and Missouri Rivers.

Many thanks from the USS Aries Team for the contribution of these memorial PHM coins by Bob Hunt on behalf of his father, Robert Hunt, Sr. who is now 94 years old and still proud of his interactions with the PHM ships.

Robert Hunt, Sr. was a Quality Assurance inspector on the ships, specializing in non-destructive testing and inspection of the welding, particularly on the hull. He rode some of the test runs in Elliot Bay. Bob Jr. recalls his dad telling the family that a Navy audit was pending when his bosses realized everyone's inspection certification had lapsed except his, so he had to work double shifts while the rest of the team got re-certified.

Bob Jr lives in Twisp, WA.
