The "Sleepy Hollow Stump" is a quirky, collaborative roadside art project and community installation located in the Driftless Region of southwestern Wisconsin, near G**s Mills.
The stump—and its surrounding eccentric folk art—has grown from a huge cottonwood that fell in 2016 (later including multiple stumps and tree trunks) into a local destination that celebrates discarded and mundane objects.
In 2026 the original Sleepy Hollow stump was vandalized by a vehicle and had to be removed.
This is the origin and story of the Sleepy Hollow Stump and the beginning of our neighborhood outsider art project.
