What a perfect way to spend an autumn afternoon! 🍎

Our Chancellor's Open House at Montgomery Place at Bard College offered guests the opportunity to tour the historic mansion and its historic landscape. The story of Montgomery Place is intertwined with that of Clermont. The estate was established by Janet Livingston Montgomery, daughter of Judge Robert R. Livingston of Clermont and widow of Revolutionary War General Richard Montgomery.

Following the tour, guests enjoyed freshly picked apples, c***r, and donuts while overlooking the Hudson River, Catskill Mountains, and beautiful fall foliage. For over 200 years, an orchard has been operated at Montgomery Place and has become integral to its history. Refreshments were generously donated by Montgomery Place Orchards Farm Market.

We are tremendously grateful to our hosts for allowing us to explore the historic property of Montgomery Place.

Limited tickets are still available for our Chancellor's Open House at Midwood on November 4. All remaining Chancellor's Open House events are sold out.

🎃 To make Legends by Candlelight truly legendary, every week we must carve dozens of fresh jack-o-lanterns. Luckily, we have local school kids help us out! Thank you to the Bulkeley Middle School 7th graders for carving this week's pumpkins! 🎃

Join us tomorrow, Saturday, October 10, for a special Spooky Season Crafty Kids Story Hour! 🎃

Librarian Jane Miller will read a curated selection of story books about the changing of the seasons. Then, the Crafty Kids Crew will help kids create spooky-cute Halloween decorations!

The Story Hour will begin promptly at 11 a.m. with crafts to follow. This event is suitable for kids ages 3 to 8.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Fall Forest Bathing event yesterday. Participants took in the beauty of early autumn at Clermont under the guidance of Mindful Outdoor Guide Suzy Conroy. The 90-minute session included a peaceful walk through Clermont's Riverside and bridle trails, guided meditation, and concluded with a cup of freshly brewed white pine tea.
