Opening Day finally arrived!!!

We’re open from 9-noon on Saturdays from April through November, weather permitting.

The crew has been hard at work painting the lighthouses, changing some of the loops, rearranging some of the buildings and moving the turntable.

Thanks to all 23 volunteers who showed up on SAT Mar 7 to install more track, move gravel, and generally build stuff.

Doug and Terri drove the golden spike after lunch.

Our preseason cleanup will be Saturday, March 28 at 10 am. (reballast track as needed, tighten rails, remove debris and eat lunch at noon at Renos.)

This will be our 10-year anniversary of GGRR and 30th of the site so stay tuned for events all year leading up to October.

Steve’s been working on the railroad during the off season. He widened our beautiful Cape Fear Memorial Bridge. And, we’re making some surprising changes to some of our loops of track. We’re only a little more than a month away from opening day 2026!!!!
