I once thought I had a solid five or ten year life plan ahead of me.
But God had infinitely better for me. Each chapter has prepared me for the next.
I’m now working as the Director of External Affairs for Communities In Schools of Appalachian Highlands. I join a team of incredible people working every day to ensure that kids have healthy and successful lives by providing basic necessities and critical resources to them and their families and supporting our educators throughout Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. Through these relationships, our team provides support to encourage students to achieve their goals.
I have always advocated for keeping our talent here in the region, and I wanted to find another way to ensure my skills and talents went back into supporting the communities I love so dearly.
I’ll be assisting with the efforts to share our story, looking at opportunities for potential growth, and engaging stakeholders.
Hopefully you already know about the great work happening by our student support coordinators within the school buildings, but if not, it’s my goal that you do.
