Stop by the farm this Saturday 10/24 for this fun event!

Trough or Treat is next Saturday, October 24 from 2-5pm at Meadow Farm Museum at Crump Park.

At this FREE event, you can walk around the pastures to learn about the animals and history of the farm while gathering some treats and prizes. Then, test your aim at our open archery range, where you can enjoy the thrill of safely shooting arrows at pumpkins in a fun, festive outdoor experience for all skill levels.

Costumes encouraged but not required.

This should be a fun afternoon- please share with your friends! 🎃

Last week the animal care team said goodbye to “Todd”, Meadow Farm’s standard bronze turkey. The staff have spent the last several months discussing chronic health issues related to his advanced age, and made the difficult decision to humanely euthanize, ensuring he wouldn't experience unnecessary pain & discomfort. Todd was estimated to be 17 years old, which is well beyond the average lifespan of approximately 10 years!

For well over a decade, Todd made Henrico County staff and community members smile with his beautiful plumage (feathers) and energetic gobbling! He enjoyed receiving sunflower seeds and strawberries from the team and was always well-behaved during vet appointments.

As part of the husbandry program, the staff regularly monitor the behavior and health of all the animals, and spend additional time with older individuals, ensuring they receive prescribed supplements and medication that keep them comfortable and active throughout the year.

A big thank you goes out to animal care team for their dedication and care for Todd and all the animals at Meadow Farm!

Otis definitely enjoyed his grain breakfast by the look of it! All of our Ossabaw Island hog males have tusks, which you can see in Otis' lower jaw. These are used for defense against predators and rival males. Theyre also useful for digging & rooting in the ground.

The animal care staff caught Tuckahoe the sheep and Todd the turkey meeting yesterday at the fenceline! All the animals at the farm are accustomed to the sights and sounds of one another, and visiting wild species from the surrounding woods.
