Our immense thanks to Julia Taggart and her volunteers for giving GAHS members a wonderful tour of Sunnyslope Historical Society. Everyone had a great time!
Sunnyslope is a wonderful tiny but mighty museum, packed with history and memories for anyone who grew up in the greater Phoenix area and a perfect introduction for those who are new in town.
Be sure to visit Sunnyslope and support local history.

Just a reminder that on Saturday May 23 we will be having a “field trip” to tour Sunnyslope Historical Society & Museum at 737 E. Hatcher Road in Phoenix.
* Please arrive at Sunnyslope by 10:30am.
* Transportation is on your own. There is parking on site and is allowed at the nearby Bank of America parking lot.
* Admittance to Sunnyslope is $5 per person.

‼️A MESSAGE RE: GAHS MANISTEE RANCH PHOTO PERMITS‼️

Professional photographers, or anyone being paid to take photographs, are required to purchase a Photo Permit for taking photos at Manistee Ranch. These are issued by Glendale Arizona Historical Society and are $25 for one day, or $100 for a season. We accept cash, check, and Zelle.

All photographers, professional or not:
• Are not to enter restricted areas.
• Are not to allow their clients to pose or climb on trees, railings, fences, farm equipment, etc.
• Do not leave any props or other materials behind.
• No alcoholic beverages brought in by ANYONE.
• Dogs and cats must be controlled by owner and restrained by a six-foot maximum leash. Remove all pet waste. Other pets are prohibited.
• No horses, donkeys, and mules.
• Vehicles are not permitted on the grounds and must be parked in the parking lot off of 51st Avenue near Walgreens.
• Park rangers and city police officers are authorized to issue citations and/or file civil code infraction complaints for rule, regulation, and ordinance violations.

We ask all photographers, professional or not, to respect that Manistee Ranch is private property and Manistee Ranch Park is governed by the laws and restrictions of the City of Glendale, and GAHS follows these guidelines as well:

Please be aware that GAHS Manistee Ranch photo permits DO NOT authorize you to photograph at Sahuaro Ranch/Sahuaro Ranch Park and those permits are issued by the City of Glendale.

Join us on Monday April 27, 2026 at 7pm for Glendale Arizona Historical Society’s monthly members meeting as we welcome Rian Kirkman, Senior VP of Marketing for VAI Resort for a discussion on "Creating New History In Glendale".

Rian Kirkman leads the marketing function for VAI Resort. Throughout his career, he has held a variety of hospitality marketing leadership positions. During that time, Rian has led marketing efforts for resorts at Caesars Entertainment and The Venetian; entertainers including Celine Dion, Elton John, Britney Spears, and Shania Twain; and chefs including Nobu, Gordon Ramsay, Thomas Keller, Guy Fieri, and Giada, to name a few.

Light refreshments will be served after the meeting.

Please enter Manistee Ranch from 51st Avenue and park in the parking lot or go through the vehicle gate and park near the house. Members are welcome to bring a guest. Non~members are also welcome to attend and learn about GAHS and historic Manistee Ranch.
