FINAL WEEKEND : ON DISPLAY THROUGH MAY 17
The Language of Presence
A Solo Show by Robin Colodzin

Robin Colodzin’s solo exhibition brings together three bodies of work: oil paintings that begin with close observation of the natural world and then depart from the immediate scene, allowing an invented reality to emerge; cave wall paintings that draw on the texture and sensibility of prehistoric cave art, reaching across time toward the earliest forms of human mark-making; and text paintings built from a journaling practice noting ordinary moments of sensory experience, letting the words themselves to become visual marks.

‘Rhythm and Rhyme’ is a juried exhibition showcasing work inspired by music or musical lyrics. The structural pattern of music, including melody, harmony, tempo and texture, has long been a muse for the visual arts. A song’s lyric quality may also evoke powerful imagery and stir the imagination. The works by 24 artists in this exhibit represent the full range of musical inspiration, from highly literal responses to deeply emotional.

Gallery Hours: Friday-Sunday, 12-5pm
Cultural Center at Rocky Neck, 6 Wonson Street, Gloucester

Come experience the collection, meet the artists, and enjoy an afternoon of refreshments and lively conversation at the Opening Reception on Sunday, May 24, from 4 to 6 pm.

Save the Date: The Journey of a Song, music and musings with Dan King and Dave Mattacks, Saturday, June 6. Details to follow.
