Saturdays 9:30pm – 12:30pm | March 2 - May 4 (8 sessions; no class April 13 or 27) | $325 This course provides an encouraging, instructional and supportive environment in order to explore the medium of Pastel. In addition to learning about different types of pastels, papers and surfaces, students will have the opportunity to work from still life, photography and with a model. The class will explore pastel as a traditional drawing medium as well as its relationship to painting (pastel as pure color used in a planar language.) It will also explore its rich history of mark making in correlation to master drawings, modernist and contemporary work. This class will provide time for studio work, discussion and critique. Experimentation and interpretation will be encouraged. Previous drawing experience is helpful but not required as this class is designed to meet all level students where they are at.
