We are sad to share the news about the passing of Tom Kelleher of Old Sturbridge Village. We are honored to have had him as a speaker throughout the years.
He always captivated his audience. He's a talent that truly will be missed!

On May 26, the Old Sturbridge Village community lost one of our own.
For more than 40 years, Tom Kelleher shared his extraordinary talent, humor, kindness, and dedication with everyone fortunate enough to know him. Since joining the Village in 1984, Tom devoted his life to helping bring history to life for generations of visitors through his scholarship, storytelling, craftsmanship, mentorship, and unforgettable performances.

Tom was a gifted historian, interpreter, curator, and educator whose impact on this Museum cannot be overstated. Whether reading the Declaration of Independence on the Fourth of July each year, bringing beloved historical stories to life, mentoring colleagues, volunteers, and others in the living history field, or keeping the Village’s historic mills running, Tom left an indelible mark on this place and all the people within it.

To many of us, Tom was far more than a coworker. He was a trusted friend, a mentor, and a deeply cherished member of the OSV family. His infectious laugh, care, and passion for history will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
Our thoughts are with Tom’s family, loved ones, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Additional details regarding plans to honor Tom’s life and legacy will be shared at a later date.

I'm sure there is someone who can add to the story. I believe this school was demolished in or about 1980. Does anyone have pictures or details? Surprisingly we have come up short when questions arose.

Thank you to Homefield Credit Union for their ongoing support to this at the Grafton Historical society and our community!

Homefield Credit Union (formerly known as Grafton Suburban Credit Union) and the Grafton Historical Society share a deep, long-standing connection built on preserving and supporting the local community.

The Grafton Historical Society was incorporated in 1964 to preserve the town’s artifacts. Two years later, in 1966, the Grafton Suburban Credit Union was founded to support the financial well-being of local families. Both have grown with the town and continue to honor its unique heritage.

This bond is exemplified by Julie Tripp, Executive Vice President at Homefield Credit Union, who currently serves in a volunteer capacity as the Vice President for the Grafton Historical Society. Julie’s dedication not only strengthens the shared roots between these two organizations, but it also connects local banking with the preservation of Grafton’s rich history.

Homefield Credit Union remains fully committed to honoring this shared history. We encourage you to visit the Grafton Historical Society to uncover the stories that helped shape us and stop by Homefield Credit Union as we celebrate 60 years of service alongside the community that has supported us from the very start.

Visit the Grafton Country Store and ask Carol Baskowski-Dauphinais about her mother, who was a resident of Northbridge but would later raise her family in Grafton :)

With Mother’s Day this week, we felt inspired to celebrate in a more personal way. ❤️
Introducing a special series: The Moms of Grafton Country Store, where we share heartfelt memories and the little things we cherish most about our mothers.
To us, this store has always been more than a place for gifts, cards, and home décor. It’s a space built on connection, meaningful moments, and a community we’re so grateful to share with you.
Kicking off the week is our very own Carol 🤍
Here’s what she’d love to share about her wonderful mother:
Mary, my mom—so full of grace, a mother to seven children. She was small but mighty.
She gave us the freedom to discover our interests and talents, and encouraged us to share those gifts with others. Our home was always open, welcoming everyone, and filled with an eclectic mix of people.
She loved engaging—especially with the younger generation—through conversation, debate, and even changing her own perspective. While raising seven children meant setting aside her path to becoming a concert pianist, she never let go of her belief that it’s never too late to follow your dreams.
At 63, she went back to school to earn her teaching degree from Worcester State—proving just that.
She was lively, energetic, full of humor, courageous, strong, and most importantly, deeply kind and full of love. These were the hallmarks of her beautiful soul.
She was my biggest cheerleader. I was lucky to have her until her 98th year.
I miss you now, Mom, and honor you every day. You live in my heart 🤍
