We're absolutely loving the mural work by Kayla Elaine Art! It's so fun to stop into the museum to see her progress and the new additions, like the plane's banner touting our museum's motto: "Moffat Men Never Give Up!" Keep up the good work Kayla!

A long-overdue tribute to Marcia Moffat!

We are honored to share that a headstone has now been installed for Marcia Moffat at the Moffat Family plot in Fairmount Cemetery in Denver.

Marcia, the only daughter of railroad visionary David H. Moffat, was laid to rest there when she passed away, yet for many decades her grave remained unmarked. Thanks to a collaborative effort between the Moffat Road Railroad Museum and the Denver & Salt Lake Railway Historical Society, a beautiful new headstone was installed last week, finally giving Marcia the recognition and remembrance she deserves.

It is a meaningful moment to help preserve not only railroad history, but also the stories of the people and families behind it. We are proud to have played a small role in ensuring that Marcia's resting place is properly honored for generations to come.

❤️ A special thank you to everyone who contributed to making this project possible.

Now, after all these years, Marcia Moffat has a marker bearing her name and a lasting tribute in the family plot she has always called home.

Making tracks toward opening day!

These photos highlight the new fence that was required for operation of our Family Train Ride following guidance from a second inspector visit. Every project has a few unexpected twists, but we're making great progress and getting closer to welcoming our first passengers.

Stay tuned for more updates!

This locomotive on the spectacular Egeria Trestle is a 2-8-0 “consolidation”. It’s not very accurate, as D&SL never had any of those, but it looks most like the mikados (2-8-2) hanging out in the Tabernash Yard. It originally started as a fictional Denver Rio Grande color when it was modified by John Emmot to be a D&SL locomotive. It was the first steam engine on our museum’s HO Moffat Road exhibit to make a successful lap of the hill route before Tabernash Yard had power (meaning it had to turn around in Arrow.)

Staffer, Carter Dorbeck, can tell you all about our model trains… and then some!

Most importantly, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all who have served — and those currently serving — in our military. Your sacrifice and dedication to our country are deeply appreciated. 🇺🇸

Here's a peek at the Executive Director, museum staff, and Board VP ("Grill Master"), hard at work getting ready for our Summer Re-opening Weekend and serving up free hot dogs to celebrate. Such a great, hardworking crew!
