The Grand Blanc Heritage Association is located at 203 E. Grand Blanc Road in the City Hall complex. Founded in 1972, it is incorporated by the State of Michigan as a not-for-profit, educational, public service organization. The function of the Association is to discover, document, collect, preserve, research and exhibit any tangible materials that help to establish or illustrate the history of th

e community and surrounding area. In 1833, eleven people established the First Congregational Church of Grand Blanc. The congregation, which held its earlier services in homes, and later schoolhouses, built their first house of worship in 1855. They replaced it with the current building in 1885. The building served its congregationalists for eighty-three years; its last worship service was October 6, 1968. Purchased by the City of Grand Blanc in 1967, it became the home of the City municipal offices. In 1976 the City of Grand Blanc gave the Association a single room to display items collected from its members. The Heritage Museum has since grown to two floors filled with exhibits. These items have been donated to the Association for the education and enjoyment of the community. The Museum is administered by the Grand Blanc Heritage Association Board of Directors and its volunteers.

Calling all railroad enthusiasts! The Lake State Railway will be running Pere Marquette 1225 through Grand Blanc early this afternoon on its way to Holly! It is expected to pass through between 1:30 and 2:15pm, assuming there are no delays.
Step back into Grand Blanc's past, and come catch a glimpse of the steam railroad era!

This weekend, Lake State is celebrating our employees and their families with trips in conjunction with the Steam Railroading Institute and their historic steam locomotive Pere Marquette 1225. We ask that the public enjoy the steam locomotive from a safe distance and respect private property. As always, stay off railroad tracks and always think train.

and Happy National Library Week! Grand Blanc's first library was established in 1869 by the Grand Blanc Ladies Library Association. Almost 100 years later, in 1967, the Grand Blanc Library joined the Genesee County Library network and they moved into their new (and current) location in 1973. At the time, the library had a borrowing collection of approximately 45,000 books. Now, the collection has doubled, with 90,000 books, 2,200 audiobooks, and more. From storytimes to special events, there’s always something happening, visit their website to explore weekly programs!
