We would like to highlight entertainment venues near the UNDRground for a full night of fun. This month we would like to promote the restaurant at the Azteca Market. https://www.facebook.com/AztecaMarketNE/
The gallery exists because the Azteca donates the space rent and utility free! Come early and try their California Burrito. Delicioso! After you view the show, go across the street to the Chocolate Bar for some of their famous carrot cake! http://www.thechocolatebargi.com/

1. Enrique Martinez is an exceptional high school student at GISH. He has produced over one hundred large scale works in painting, printmaking, and ceramics while at GISH. His talent warrants a solo show at the UNDRground- a gallery that exhibits art produced by emerging and established, professional artists. Enrique's accolades include having work accepted in the UNL juried exhibition for high school juniors and the Nebraska Wesleyan Juried Scholarship Show for seniors. Over a three year period, he has earned much recognition In the Scholastic Art Awards competition. This is the premiere national competition for high school students in the visual arts. Each year over 300,000 pieces are entered nationally. On the state level, Enrique's art has been awarded best of show, 18 gold key awards, 11 silver key awards, and 5 honorable mentions. Any work being designated with a gold key award is automatically entered into the National Scholastics Competition. 300 of the 300,000 pieces of the art entered (or .1%) are awarded national gold key awards. Enrique has received three of these. His work will be honored at Carnegie Hall in NYC this summer. He has served on a discussion panel for the Nebraska Entrepreneurial Symposium sponsored by UNL, UNK, and the Department of Education and will be on a Nebraska Arts Council panel, “Meeting Community Needs through the Arts,” this summer. He plans to study art at UNL next year, and his work is already in many private collections. PLEASE COME AND SUPPORT ONE OF GRAND ISLAND'S RISING STARS! (This is an opportunity to purchase one of his pieces while he is still humble and affordable lol!)
