EUREKA McConnell Science Museum We create enthusiasm and excitement for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math for all ages.

One week ago, Mike Perry completed his goal of biking 80 miles plus a bonus 20 for a total of 100 miles! The STREAM students came out with signs and cheered him on. Friends of Mike's from EUREKA!, the Grand Valley, and as far away as Iowa came to ride along, and so many of you supported the "Mike Back on a Bike" campaign to support youth scholarships. This ride raised $14,175! Which brings Mike on a Bike grand total over all the rides to $102,675!

The Nobel Prizes are being announced throughout this week. The prize in medicine this year is awarded to three scientists for creating optogenetics, a tool that lets researchers control brain cells using LIGHT. 💡✨

Here’s how it works:
They found a special light-sensitive protein in green algae 🦠
They put that protein into brain cells 🧪
Now, they can flip brain cells ON and OFF with light to see how we form memories, feelings, and behaviors! 🧠⚡

The air show this weekend will have lots of examples of the Bernoulli Principle. As aircraft slice through the sky, air flows faster over the curved top of the wing than underneath, creating lower pressure above and generating the upward force we call lift.
