Story Art & Museum

Story Art & Museum Inform, inspire and imagine, bringing stories to life. Story Art & Museum is a vision of Heidi Wick, daughter of Faith and Melvin Wick.

It all started with Fairyland Park in Marble, Minnesota. In 1948, Myrtle Gustafson envisioned an outdoor amusement par of life-sized fairy tale, folktale and historical figures. This pathway through the woods was located near Marble, MN off highway 169. Approximately 10,000 visitors per year visited the park. Faith and Mel operated the park from 1960-1974. When the park closed, Faith continued mak

ing figures on a smaller scale. Some would call them dolls. Faith continued to call them figures. Since 2005, an exhibit of Faith's miniature Fairyland has been available for public viewing at the Judy Garland Museum and Children's Discovery Center in Grand Rapids, MN. In cooperation with the Judy Garland Museum, that exhibit has been donated to Story Art & Museum. This exhibit along with Faith's personal collection is the basis for Story Art's museum exhibits. It is our vision to share local and regional stories and story art in a public forum, create art, and lift up our imagination. We are all related to each other. We closed our Old Central School location on July 1st due to the combination of funding limitations and insufficient volunteer coordinators.

80 visitors again today!!! Thank you Don Hustead for welcoming them to the museum.

Lynda Griffith and I played accordions.

One 2 year old lad tried my accordion and was fascinated! I loved his focused attention as he was figuring out how it worked! Taking it all in.

A great day.

We had 80 visitors yesterday!!!

Many visitors were attending weddings in the area. They loved to see Central School, our exhibit and a few tried the accordion.

It’s a good day to play indoors due to the smoke from wild fires. Come by Story Art & Museum in Old Central School where the air is cool and clear inside. We have game space and internet access. Coffee or tea, too.

Free.

Support us through a donation.
