Saint Michael is the leader of the archangels and commander of God’s army, invoked as the protector and guardian of the Church. He is the enemy of Satan, and ejected him from paradise. He is considered to be the angel of death, accompanying those who are dying and giving them a chance to redeem their souls before they are judged. He is the patron of police, firefighters, and soldiers, often representing protection and strength. His feast day is 29th September.

It’s important to remember and honor the sacrifices of brave Irish men and women who risked their lives to uphold their faith, especially during times of persecution. Our community’s history is closely linked to our religious beliefs, showcasing our resilience and dedication. As we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and its rich cultural heritage, we must acknowledge that faith is a core part of our identity. Our gatherings are not only a celebration of Irish culture but also a chance to reflect on and reaffirm our commitment to Catholic values. The courage of those who secretly attended Mass, standing against oppression, powerfully reminds us of our heritage and the importance of our beliefs. Join us for a special celebration of our national Patron Saint, St. Patrick, at Knock Basilica this evening at 8pm.

This uplifting event will feature a beautiful programme of Irish traditional song, music and verse, celebrating both our faith and the rich cultural heritage of Ireland. It promises to be a reflective and joyful gathering as we honour St. Patrick in the unique setting of Knock Basilica.
