City of Grand Saline – Friday Update
It has been a busy week here in the City of Grand Saline, with a lot of great work taking place across multiple departments.
We recently held a Town Hall meeting where we discussed current and future grant opportunities, public safety concerns, and ongoing challenges our departments are facing. These conversations are important as we continue planning for the future of our community.
Street improvements remain a priority, and we are hopeful to complete several street replacement's across town in the coming months.
The city pool is currently being prepared for the upcoming season. City Council will vote next month on operating hours and scheduling, after which we will begin booking parties. The pool will also be under new management, and we look forward to providing a great experience for our citizens this summer.
Mayor Kathy Smith has been actively meeting with various organizations and city personnel throughout the week.
A big shoutout to our Public Works Department for their continued efforts in addressing water leaks and sewer issues across the city. Additionally, contractors are still actively working in the Lakeside Drive area, replacing sewer lines to improve infrastructure.
Our library hosted a wonderful Easter egg hunt for the community, with a great turnout of kids. Emma Curry, our Salt Queen, made an appearance along with the Easter Bunny, helping make the event extra special.
The Fire Department held its regular Monday night training, focusing on communications as Van Zandt County agencies transition to the new digital radio system.
The Police Department remains busy keeping our community safe.
Be sure to visit the Salt Palace, where Salt Mine Tour raffle tickets are now available for purchase—don’t miss your chance to experience one of Grand Saline’s most unique attractions!
Our EDC, Main Street, and Communications teams continue working hard to keep the public informed and support economic growth. Main Street has several exciting initiatives underway, including the near completion of the Welcome to Main Street mural.
Thank you to all of our departments and community members for helping keep Grand Saline moving forward!
