This past weekend brought to us many visitors, of which we had the pleasure of touring our equipment.

It can be easy to forget why these pieces exist to begin with; it was people that had a need or job to complete. It was people through business that utilized this equipment for commerce or travel. It will be people that preserve this equipment.

Pictured are volunteers applying some much-needed paint to our 44-Ton locomotive, and some visitors we had inside the cab.

We are open every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturdays, next day is the 30th. To visit or volunteer, bring yourself and your people to our track in Green Cove Springs, FL - Reynolds Industrial Park.

The sun is out and so are we.

Our 44-Ton locomotive is not far from a proper paint job. Together with some new volunteers the car body has been wiped down and marked for striping work.

Previously, areas were needle-scaled and brushed, then primed.
After 80 years these machines sure collect debris!

Our southern boxcar was cleaned up, removing some unneeded materials.

As this post is being made, work at the museum is still ongoing today.

Teamwork makes the dream work.

While separated by distance, many projects by many people follow the same dream, to preserve railroad history. In preserving that history, we create new history through the relationships built as a result of traveling those distances to share that dream.

Members of North Florida Railway Museum, Florida Adventures in Railroading Inc., Port Orange Railway Society, and Palatka Railroad Preservation Society have been working together to create the beginnings of Depot Park in Port Orange.

Up to many things, in Green Cove Springs.

Many of our members arrived at the track this weekend to lay hands upon many tasks,

Alan, furious at work, preparing the trucks on our Southern Caboose.

Bruce, focused in on the electrical cabinet of the FEC Bahamian, figuring out how the power is routed. This car features a mostly complete electrical system, however decades of changes can complicate some things.

Craig, not pictured, digs through old components for the 44-tonner, and cleans up the working area of our RPO turned work car.

The rest of or members help organize and secure many other items around the museum, and also prepare for the upcoming Railroadiana show at the prime Osborn Convention Center.

As the new year rolls in, we roll on.

Pictured, Alan works to prepare the trucks on our Southern Caboose. While a long tedious task, Alan was lost in his focus making way for a nice clean paint job to come.

We are currently preparing to attend the Railroadiana Show at the Prime Osborn Convention Center, on February 7th.

As winter continues its slow crawl, so do we.

As we near the end of the year we are working to ready ourselves for the beginning of a new and powerful year here at the museum.

During February of next year, we will attend the Annual Railroadiana show held at the Prime Osborn convention center. Before said time we will perform an overdue inventory of our collection, which we have had many people ask about!

In the previous months we have:
•Prepared the [X369] Southern caboose for further exterior work.
•Continued electrical work on 44-Ton locomotive, including assisting others with locating information for their restorative works on other locomotives.
•Received a Power-Pole to run various electrical items; a lot less noise and sweat lugging generators around!
•Updating and cleaning up display modules in our museum car.

We have a lot of plans for the upcoming future, and will do a better job to keep you informed.

To walk a mile is to take many steps.

Today volunteers* arrived at the museum to discuss future projects. After successful work at Port Orange to drop two re-preserved railcars in Depot Park, and a visit by the Train Collectors Association at NFRM, attention was focused to outline future projects.

Our railcar collection will be receiving a much-needed face-lift in the coming months, including surface preparation, weather sealing, door repair work, and painting.

It is likely that our location's power concerns may be soon alleviated, allowing for lighting, tooling and climate control, very much needed amenities.

Work with other organizations and their projects are being considered.

This work is hands on and driven by volunteers, located in Green Cove Springs, we gather every other Saturday, sometimes more often to work and hang out. We take visitors and volunteers alike, if interested let us know!

On our track, progress continues on a couple projects.

Our locomotive's new floor has received a coat of paint giving a good look to an old worn floor.

In our museum/baggage car we have a chronological display which contains modules of model trains depicting the railroads as time progressed. These modules have aged and are now being worked on to bring them back to visual standards.

[Our volunteers are working hard to bring life to old equipment. There are projects for everyone, from light woodworking, to welding, from electrical on the inside to the paint on the outside. A very productive day, fit to end the month of May.

Members of North Florida Railway Museum and Florida Adventures in Railroading Inc., with visitors afar worked together this weekend on several tasks.

Our locomotive's floor is in the finishing stages, after all rotten wood had been replaced, primer was applied in preparation for final coat.

A recent focus on our Caboose has led to work on both its exterior and interior. During the previous weekend, the exterior was cleaned in preparation of fresh paint, and plans for body patchwork was initiated. Work moved to the interior this weekend as volunteers cleaned up to make way for future improvements.

Work continued to allow easier accessibility to railcars, by way of new staircase construction.

One of our tinkerers furthered a repair on a generator to provide power should it be needed

While, it might seem to be work work work, a good time was had by all volunteers during this beautiful Saturday.

Happy Thanksgiving from the folks here at the North Florida Railway Museum.

We have plenty to be thankful for. Starting well over a century ago with the railroads and their surrounding interests which would much later provide the history and equipment that museums and their people build their foundations upon. To the folks who invest their time and resources as volunteers, and to those that donate resources and history of their own to build upon that foundation. To You, the reader who has taken time to observe our growth and projects.
