Greensboro-based Artist: Painting and sculpture I recently received my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting from Appalachian State University in May 2011.

I often describe myself as "fluent in painting, but eager to learn sculpture". I've been an artist for as long as I can remember. Painting is the most readily available medium for young artists, and I quickly fell in love with the process. In my third year of school, I also fell in love with sculpture, fascinated by the techniques and equipment required to be an expert. Process and materials dicta

te most of my creative choices. I consider myself to be a formal artist- color, texture, value, balance, and movement for elements I am constantly considering. With these factors, I project them from my head into reality using the female form as a catalyst for creation. I cannot think of a better subject matter than the sacred vessel that is the human body to assist me in my need to create things. Please come and check out my space! Patricia L. Cooke

THE NEW SOUTH 7 brings together 63 selected works by 48 artists living and working across the Southeastern United States. Chosen from over 800 submissions, the exhibition reflects the continued vitality, diversity, and experimentation emerging from the region’s contemporary art community. This year’s exhibition was juried by Beth Wilson, Fine Art Specialist for The Coca-Cola Company, whose selections highlight the breadth of conceptual, material, and formal approaches possible within the medium of paper.

Celebrating paper as both a traditional and expansive medium, THE NEW SOUTH 7 encompasses a wide range of themes, styles, and techniques—from intimate drawings and printmaking to mixed-media and sculptural explorations—underscoring paper’s enduring relevance in contemporary art practice.

WHAT A WEEK! Art season is in full bloom 🌸🌻🌺💐here in South Florida, I’m grateful to be a part of so many meaningful projects!
THANK YOU to everyone who came to the Thursday opening of “What’s in your Container?”
It was great to be surrounded by old and new friends, and have awesome conversations about the work, art, and life in general.
