Did you know that Blandwood is America’s oldest Italianate style building? Built in 1846, it currently operates as a museum.

Also, in 1988, the National Park Service recognized Blandwood as a National Historic Landmark! It is one of 39 such Landmarks that range from Biltmore Estate in the west to the Wright Brothers National Monument in Kill Devil Hills in the east. National Historic Landmark designation recognizes each site’s exceptional value or quality in illustrating or interpreting the heritage of the United States. Blandwood traces so many themes of state history that few places can rival the degree by which North Carolina history happened there!

Blandwood is currently open for self-guided tours most Saturdays for only $5 per person! Check us out!
